CHILDREN OF EDEN in Broadway CHILDREN OF EDEN
CHANDLER GILBERT COMMUNITY COLLEGE
3/1-3/8/2013
From Stephen Schwartz and John Caird comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith... not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! Freely based on the story of Genesis, CHILDREN OF EDEN is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the "Father" who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that "the hardest part of love... is letting go."A large cast is needed to take on the story of the Old Testament in this moving, foot-stomping musical. CHILDREN OF EDEN is a wonderful show to perform for children and students.

Greenway High School
3/7-3/9/2013
One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 15 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.Music by Tom Snow; Lyrics by Dean Pitchford; Stage Adaptation by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie; Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford; Additional Music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman

Grace Arts Live
3/8-3/24/2013
The 'G2K' Getting To Know Series: Uniquely adapted musicals specifically for youth performers. East versus West makes for a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by those in the West and he seeks Anna's assistance in changing his image, if not his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another, in a truly unique love story. In this adaptation for pre-high school students, the content has been edited to better suit younger attention spans, but all the magic and beauty of the original are still in place. You and your students will be enchanted by the timeless story and the dazzling score, while at the same time learning about theater and its production. Musical of Musicals in Broadway MUSICAL OF MUSICALS
Theater Works
3/5-4/7/2013
June can't pay the rent. Will the evil landlord evict her? Can her handsome leading man come to the rescue? It's an oft-told tale - and in MUSICAL OF MUSICALS it's told five more times - in the styles of America's greatest musical-makers! Rodgers & Hammerstein might place the story with a Dream Ballet on the wide open plains, Jerry Herman might have a splashy star like his Dolly or Mame. Andrew Lloyd Webber would like make a pop musical of it, and Kander & Ebb would place it in a seedy Cabaret in Chicago. Sondheim would take a darker, more modern edge - perhaps Sunday in the Park with Sweeney Todd. MUSICAL OF MUSICALS is great fun, whether you're a devotee of the form or just like a tuneful, funny, rollicking good time!
