Rising Youth Theatre, a New Theatre Company that creates original work with youth will premiere its first production April 27-29 at the Phoenix Center for the Arts. The play, SOME ARE BEGINNING, is the culmination of The Arizonan Project, a series of theatre residencies with youth from across the Phoenix Metro Valley about what it means to live in Phoenix, Arizona in the year of our state's centennial.

SOME ARE BEGINNING was written by playwright José Zárate (American Victory, Across) who wrote the play based on interviews conducted with youth and facilitated by the RYT resident artist team at Arizonan Project residency sites-Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix, Flight 33, and Barrio Nuevo. The play is co-presented by Rising Youth Theatre and Phoenix Center for the Arts. The show is directed by Rising Youth Theatre's Artistic Directors, Sarah Sullivan and Xanthia Angel Walker. Sullivan and Walker co-founded RYT in 2011, after completing MFAs in Theatre for Youth at Arizona State University. They founded RYT to create professional quality, youth driven theatre with young people who might not otherwise have access to it.

29 young people ages 9-19 will perform in Some Are Beginning, alongside adult professional actors Ricky Araiza and Elizabeth Polen.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/home.asp?studioid=21770.
