A poster on wos has said sitr will close to make way for the commitments. the person who posted is a bit of a snark but has been right now and the just wondered if anyone heard anything?
2-3 weeks seems a lot?! The last (admittedly Uk Productions) tour did a week and even that struggled. Either way its great its touring, one of the best revivals in years. Id quite like to see Adam Garcia or Sean Palmer as Don, or maybe even Tom Chambers. Adam or Tom would be a box office draw
Commitments musical has been on the cards for a long time. It was supposedly heading for The Cambridge as part of Michael Grades plans when he wanted the theatre, but RUG had already made plans for Matilda.
Nimax are reportedly backing the Commitments musical and since taking on The Palace have been keeping an eager on Singin in the Rain break even which since the start of the year has been boarding it.... However the show hasn't broken into the discount field yet, so I think it will do alright when it does that.
This has surprised me that SITR has run out of steam so quickly, (well rain really), it was only last year if you wanted a ticket, you pay full price,no questions asked sir. The only offers available were through 'Get In To London Theatre', which were far and few behind on that discount site, it was for a very select seats at the back for very select performances show. It is available on the booth at 1/3 off recently, so save £20, the show should be able to run in profits on discounts and the tourists are back next month.
They are long-ish tour runs. Most are 2 weeks but a few are a bit longer.
Shame it's closing as Phantom said it's done well with virtually no major discounts. In fact I didn't see it on my last two trips to London simply because I couldn't get a discount and knowing it was touring soon £60 was just a bit much.
